Your numbers

$

Total value you invoice each month.

What your invoices ask for — e.g. 30 days.

How many days past the due date the average customer actually pays.

What it means

Days sales outstanding (DSO)

48 days

Terms plus the average delay.

Working capital locked in receivables

$394,520

Cash you have earned but not yet collected.

Annual cost of carrying it

$31,562

At an 8% cost of capital — the interest or overdraft that cash is replacing.

Cash freed if DSO drops 20 days

$164,383

One-off working-capital release from collecting three weeks sooner.

How this is calculated. DSO = payment terms + average days late. Receivables outstanding ≈ monthly sales ÷ 30.417 × DSO. Carrying cost = outstanding × 8% opportunity cost of capital. Cash freed = monthly sales ÷ 30.417 × 20 days. These are planning estimates, not accounting advice — swap the 8% for your own cost of capital if you prefer.

Settl shortens DSO on its own.

Settl watches every open invoice and sends one calm, perfectly-timed reminder per customer — at 7, 35, 50, 65, 80 and 95 days past due — until the money lands. Firms get paid sooner without writing a single chasing email by hand.
